Vintage I-35

There is currently talk of stripping I-35 as it goes through Austin of its interstate status, and moving I-35 onto the existing Toll road that is 130. I thought it might be fun to look at what I-35 looked like before it became an Interstate. Back when it was just a road, going through Austin, lined with homes and some businesses with a tree and grass-lined median. I drive on I-35 almost everyday, and it's hard to imagine it looking like this once upon a time.

This photo is from the 1950s, and was taken back when I-35 was still known as East Avenue.
